Hi Akash, I've already used RemoveWAT on my PC so now the slmgr file is not in the System32 folder but here in "C:\Windows\System32\slmgr\0409\"
ReplyDeleteI tried running the command but I still get the same message that "slmgr.vbs is not a recognized internal or external command, operable program or batch file."
I don't get the pop-up window on logging in because of RemoveWAT but the desktop message still won't go. I want to get rid of that annoying message. Could you provide us with a solution?
Thanks in advance.
open command prompt and enter these commands:
Deletec:
cd windows
cd system32
cd slmgr
cd 0409
slmgr.vbs -rearm
Dear Akash, it's ok upto cd 0409 but after entering slmgr.vbs -rearm,it gives me same message i.e.command not recognized,i m entering as administrator

DeleteHi, i can't seem to access the previous comments which had a fix that worked for me, can you provide a new working link to previous comment thread here please?
ReplyDeleteAlso - the fix worked for me for some time, but has now reverted to 'not genuine' :( Has there been a new affected update? Or should i stop my computer from updating?
Thanks - Michelle
All right
DeleteI tried. But failed to do so. Got some errors. I'm working on it.
DeleteThanks Akash, i love what you are doing here! :o)
DeleteAny idea how i can get this fix to work for me again now that it has reverted back to not genuine?

ReplyDeletewhy so?? Tell me your problem. I'll try to help you.
Deletein what way to put commands, is it enter click after each command?
ReplyDeleteYes, my dear... You need to press enter after each command.
DeleteI dont have a slmgr.vbs file. I just have a slmgr.ini file. The.vbs file is not in my system. Where should I get it?
ReplyDeleteSolved: Found the file in MediaFire. Put it in the \0409\ folder. Typed the command, and it worked.
DeleteThanks a lot for this.
I'm happy for you.
DeleteI also had this problem but found my file in a folder entitled 'Windows/winsxs/x86_microsoft-windows-security-spp-tools_.....'
DeleteTo others that are unable to locate the slmgr.vbs file do a file search from the start menu as it may be in a strange location!
hi Akash, when i type in to Command Prompt after having uninstalled the specified update, i get the error:
ReplyDelete---------------------------
Windows Script Host
---------------------------
Error: 0xC004D307 The maximum allowed number of re-arms has been exceeded. You must re-install the OS before trying to re-arm again
---------------------------
I have run through your method a few times because the same problem has arisen a few times, do you think you could help?
thanks

Hi Akash, I get some error regarding not having elevated privileges when typing that command in cmd, which meant I could not complete part B. What should I do? I am the sole admin to this computer.
ReplyDeleteI've solution for that. But, I've to check whether it will work or not. I'll reply you soon.
DeleteHi Akash, has a solution for this been found yet as i am also now getting this windows script host error :(
DeleteThe complete error code is:
Error: 0xC004F025 Access denied: the requested action requires elevated privileges
Thanks
Hi Sean and Akash - just to let you know that i was getting this error. I then accessed the command prompt via the Start menu (start>All Programs>Accessories) and then right clicked on the Command Prompt and clicked run as administrator.
DeleteI then entered the commands recommended by Akash
c:
cd windows
cd system32
cd slmgr
cd 0409
slmgr.vbs -rearm
And the command completed successfully - i now have to reboot for changes to take place. Wish me luck!
(if this works i will also be turning off Windows Update!)
So, did it work?
DeleteYes it did... HURRAH!!
DeleteI have now turned WindowsUpdates off which is a shame - hope my AntiVirus (Eset NOD32 6) is okay with that as it usually prompts me to update when necessary.
Gr8. Congr8s.
DeleteHey, it seems to have reverted back to 'not genuine' state after a month again even though i had turned updates etc off :(
DeleteI have reapplied the 'rearm' fix and also now found out how to further ensure the updates dont get applied by turning them off at a system level. I found this tutorial on YouTube and have followed the instructions... so will let you know if i get any further problems, but thought this YouTube tutorial may be helpful to others: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWd4k2OggJY
it worked for me but when i tern off my computer it auto updates itself
ReplyDeletehow do i fix this ?
Turn off windows update. It will fix your problem.
Deletei've followed the two steps you provided...but in 2nd step it simply is saying that you have exceeded the number of usage of using this command and try to install your os again..what to do??
ReplyDeleteany ideas would would be highly Aappreciated
Ok, that's an error I've never faced. Well, you can search "Check previous comments" page for that error. If you are lucky, you'll get the solution. Meanwhile I'll also be searching the method to resolve that ugly problem.
DeleteI have completed all steps and manage to remove the "windows not genuine" message. I just want to confirm, is this permanent? Will the message appear again after some time? I still receive the message for activation when I restart PC, though it is not causing any problem, just very annoying.
ReplyDeleteCould you post the screen shot?
Deletehey akash
ReplyDeleteError: 0xC004D307 The maximum allowed number of re-arms has been exceeded. You must re-install the OS before trying to re-arm again

ReplyDeleteAkash,
ReplyDeleteI came across this thread and it's helped tremendously!! Thank you!! I had a non genuine copy of Windows 7 and a window kept popping up stating so. I then purchased a copy of Home Premium online and continued to change product key. I kept getting errors and followed your instruction all the way to "rearm" ing and rebooting. I then put in
slmgr.vbs -ipk (product key)
slmgr.vbs -ato and I ran into an error : "on a computer running MW no-core edition run 'sluiexe02a0x8007007B. Please help !!
Thank you,
Felicia
